Baptisms for Wokingham, Reading Ghana and Frimley Churches at Newbold
20th July 2018
We make many decisions and choices in life, but none are as important than making a commitment to walk with God. And what better way to show that commitment than through baptism. On Sabbath 30 June 2018, Newbold church hosted the baptisms of nine people. There is no doubt that there was indeed rejoicing in heaven as Esmeralda Asare, Marylyn Asare, Nokuthokoza Moyo, Rachel Chenge, Danielle Awuku, Denzel Awuku, Isaac Opoku, Ruvimbo Mloyi and Dr Selina Manomano all demonstrated their commitment to the Christian walk through baptism.
After months of Bible studies and preparations by the Wokingham group, Frimley and Reading Ghana churches, nine new members joined the Seventh-day Adventist community; two from Frimley church, one from Reading Ghana and six from Wokingham. Five of the nine candidates had been invested in a Newbold investiture service overseen by Area 5 Pathfinder and Adventurer coordinator, Sophia Nicholls. For these candidates a day in which they celebrated recognition and awards for their commitment and dedication to their Pathfinder activities in the last year was culminated with a beautiful and joyful baptism service.
Commenting on what he described as an amazing service after the baptisms, Andrei Balan, pastor of Wokingham church said: "I truly believe that there is certainly a great Spirit at work in our area (Area 5) and that working together, we bring better results for the Master's glory. Working together in this diverse community, we are assured of success in reaching out within our multicultural community and contributing together certainly we will achieve glorious results for God's Kingdom, through the leading of the Holy Spirit."
Pastor George Dadey, Area coordinator for Area 5 who baptised some of the candidates, encouraged each of the new members to remain faithful until the end. Baptisms were also conducted by Pastor Ivan Milanov who led the Bible studies for the Wokingham candidates and Pastor Samuel Ngui.
We give God the glory for great things He has done!
