Northolt SDA Church Party in the Park 2018

14th June 2018

The weather forecast for Sunday 27 May was rain and thunder but the only thunder that day came from the live band who played glorious arrangements which were punctuated only by the event DJ, Pastor Wentworth Sewell who announced the various events that were taking place throughout the day. The children 20180527_1527171were suitably occupied with the bouncy castles, face painting and they even joined in the keep fit, whilst their parents attended the various seminars which included 3 First Aid sessions conducted by Carrie Reid from the Red Cross, health checks were provided by a team of local nurses led by Marian Ndongwe and Sandra Ositelu and a parenting class which was taken by Lynthia Grant.

The Pathfinder drum corps and performance of drilling was intriguing for those who were unfamiliar with the club. There was counselling available throughout the day and individual prayer sessions.

It was a glorious day of community interaction and an event that is now a part of the20180527_152717 community calendar as many of those who attended stated that they had attended the event in previous years. The cuisine was also varied to include vegetarian, West Indian and Sri Lankan flavours. No one went home hungry.

The highlight of the event as usual however was the 'Northolt's Got Talent' event that followed the short community concert that featured Northolt Community Choir. Pastor Sewell announced the talent spot at the beginning of the day and invited the community to join in. A young girl went home and brought her father (who plays for the Scottish Regiment in Westminster) to come with his bagpipes and play for her whilst she danced the Highland fling.

The community fellowship was divinely blessed by the holding back of the rain for the entire day and we praise God for answering our prayers and we pray to reflect the diversity of attendance in our congregation.
